My name is Nick Howard, and I am a second-year professional student in the College of Pharmacy with a minor in LGBTQ Studies. I’m from Indianapolis, Indiana, and I have two older sisters. In addition to academics, I am a supervisor for the College of Pharmacy Peer-Mentoring Program, a wellness liaison for the College of Pharmacy, a pharmacy intern for CVS Health, a resident assistant within the Honors College and Residences, and a mentor for the Emerging Leaders program. For fun, I like to hang out with friends, listen to podcasts, watch random documentaries, drink iced coffee, and play video games. I am super excited to have the opportunity to focus on projects centered on improving health equity. I care about health equity because I believe it is imperative that as healthcare providers we are working towards improving the experiences of under-served populations. Often under-served populations are silenced, forgotten, and face systemic barriers to care that other populations don’t experience when navigating our healthcare system. Therefore, I want to work towards educating healthcare professionals on how to address and dismantle barriers to care, and I want to help create an equal healthcare experience for all groups of people.
